Spanning the Gaps:
Access to Post-Secondary Education
Spanning the Gaps is based on the belief that education can break cycles of inter-generational poverty and social exclusion, and that higher education transforms lives and contributes to social cohesion, social stability, and a civic society. We are committed to playing a role in the Greater Toronto Area community in terms of expanding educational opportunities and building educational capacity.
Our goal is to increase the post-secondary participation of young people and adults who might not otherwise interact with or experience post-secondary education. To this end, we have created a program we call Spanning the Gaps – Access to Post-Secondary Education. We work in partnership with schools, school boards, and community agencies.
Spanning the Gaps Digital Narratives:
“Our Story, Is Your Story”
The Spanning the Gaps digital stories allow diverse learners to “see” themselves in post-secondary education and increase student engagement. These digital narratives raise awareness of issues facing young and mature students who are navigating their way through post-secondary education, and who are seeking additional support in their decisions and transitions to post-secondary education.
Building student engagement can only be done by students becoming actively involved in how their stories are being told and what impact the Spanning the Gaps program has had on them through life-changing experiences and the transitions to return or start on a new academic journey…. Our story is your story!
